The purpose of Underground Utility Locating

Underground utility locating refers to the process of identifying and mapping the location of underground utility lines and infrastructure, such as water pipes, gas lines, electrical cables, telecommunications cables, and sewer systems.

Surveyors, contractors, excavators, facility managers, engineers, drilling crews, and property owners no longer have to work ‘in the dark’ or rely on outdated and inaccurate utility maps.

This process is important before any construction, excavation, or digging work to prevent damage to existing utilities, ensure safety, and avoid service disruptions. There are several techniques used for underground utility locating including Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR).

GPR uses radar waves to detect buried objects, including utilities, by sending pulses into the ground and analyzing the reflected signals. Patriot Scanning also utilizes the latest in radio detection technologies. With the use of these advanced technologies, we are able to offer complete and accurate non-destructive investigations.
